Automotive Field

Rolls-Royce has used lab-grown diamonds in its Black Badge sub-brand. The luxury brand plans to use natural diamonds again in the future. However, the decision was not made lightly. The luxury car maker has a responsibility to protect the environment and is trying to stay one step ahead of the competition.

Lab-grown diamonds are becoming more popular among consumers because of the reduced environmental impact they produce. These diamonds are often bigger and of higher quality than their mined counterparts. Furthermore, the price difference between lab-grown and mined diamonds has made consumers realize that mined diamonds are overpriced. Diamonds are not commodities, and therefore, can’t be banked, traded, or indexed. Therefore, educated consumers have realized the value of diamonds and are choosing lab-grown diamonds because of its low price and high-quality.

Rolls-Royce Adamas collection

The Rolls-Royce Adamas collection is the first luxury automobile to feature lab grown diamonds. The name Adamas is a combination of two Greek words that means “untameable” and “diamond.” It is also the name of a village in Surrey, England. The Rolls-Royce Adamas collection uses diamonds, technical fibers, and molecular compounds in its design. The company aims to capture the darker side of craftsmanship. The brand has made black a central theme for the collection. Its Black Badge, Wraith Black Badge, and Dawn Black Badge models each feature the black stones.

The Adamas Collection includes 30 Dawn convertibles and 40 Wraith coupes. The exterior of each car is black and features a grille with black accents. The Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament is the centerpiece of each Adamas car. The hood ornament is crafted from 294 layers of aerospace-grade carbon fiber, which takes 68 hours to complete.

Inside, the Adamas Collection is equally luxurious. The interior of this luxury car features an elegant starlight headliner that consists of 1,340 optic lights in the shape of a diamond. It also features a polished aluminum clock face and machined aluminium chaplets. The Black Badge is a special edition of the car. Its interior design is a blend of classic and modern design elements.

The Adamas Collection also features an analog clock on the dashboard. Additionally, the dashboard features 84 lab-grown diamonds set in the shape of an infinity symbol. Another hood ornament is redone in carbon fiber, and it took 68 hours to create. The cars are also given a two-town paint job.

Black Badged Rolls customers can choose between two-toned exteriors in either Aphrodite Red or Morpheus Blue. The two-tone colour scheme is mesmerising, and the contrast between the two hues leaves a lasting impression. The interior of the Black Badged Rolls comes with contrast stitching throughout and dark brush metal finishes on the interior.

Interiors are similar to those of the Wraith and Dawn, but the Adamas has a distinctive starlight headliner made of 1340 fibre optic lights, which resembles the molecular structure of diamond and carbon. Each fibre optic light is arranged differently, and can mimic the starlight effect in the night sky of a specific date.

The Black Badge versions of the Adamas Collection do not feature engine upgrades. The Wraith and Dawn models already come with Black Badge versions, which get a boost in power. The Wraith version has 623 horsepower and 641 pound-feet of torque, while the Dawn comes with 593 horsepower and 621 pound-feet of torque.

Patent

A technology company that specializes in the fabrication and application of lab-grown diamond. Recently, it announced that it had been granted a patent from the Japan Patent Office covering its methods for manufacturing diamond semiconductor materials. These materials have wide-ranging applications, including automotive, consumer electronics, aerospace, and defense and telecommunications systems.

The new funding will be used to further expand the company's research and development operations and bring commercial products to market. The company also plans to expand its manufacturing facility and add new staff members to further develop its technology. One example is the diamond-coated glass it developed for smartphone screens. The material is six to ten times stronger than conventional glass.

Lab grown diamonds are also eco-friendly. Since they don't come from the earth, lab-grown diamonds don't cause erosion. Moreover, these diamonds are much more affordable than natural diamonds. They also have a higher quality than natural ones.
